Common Scoter129 viewswell once again I mistook a female Common Scoter for a female Ruddy Duck - on this occasion a post on a birding website by a local birder (Stephen Dunstan) mentioned there being a Scoter on the Mere & he went onto confirm that's what I'd photographed.

Common Scoter159 viewsWhen I spotted this pair at distance I thought it was a female Ruddy duck alongside a Coot, on closer inspection I realised it was a pair of Common Scoter, my first ever sighting of these birds. Very heavily cropped photos I'm afraid.
